The Western New England College Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy is a new $40 million academic building opened in December 2010. The 126,000 square foot building provides state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for the College's programs in biology, chemistry, physics, psychology and pharmacy. The new building was designed and constructed with sustainability in mind and is projected to use half as much energy as a conventional building of the same size.
The low pressure drop designed AccuValve is utilized for the critical airflow control of all laboratory supply, general exhaust and fume hoods. Spatial temperature, airflow pressurization, and air change rates and individual fume hoods are controlled through Tek-Air controllers. Laboratory airflow control information is directly communicated to the site building automation system for continual monitoring.
